Huskers win 11 awards in regional SPJ competition
Current and former students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications earned 11 awards in the Society of Professional Journalists' Region 7 Mark of Excellence Awards Competition on April 23.

New Venture Competition awards $65,000 to Husker student startups
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center for Entrepreneurship hosted the 37th annual New Venture Competition, a business plan pitch event with $65,000 in funding in prizes, on April 16 and 18. With 48 teams representing nine colleges and 44 majors at the university competing in a bracket format, Eduardo Sicilia Ayala with 2%Football took first place and a $15,000 cash prize.

Husker students present research projects to lawmakers
University of Nebraska-Lincoln undergraduates recently discussed their research and creative activity projects face-to-face with state senators. Presentations highlighted undergraduate successes in research programs campuswide, including the Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences, First Year Research Experience, Ronald E. McNair Scholars and University Honors programs.

Husker students win two national accounting competitions in less than year
A team of University of Nebraska-Lincoln accounting students recently won the 22nd annual Deloitte FanTAXtic National Case Study Competition, presenting analysis of a complex, issues-driven business tax case. The win follows the university's top finish in the eighth annual Deloitte National Audit Innovation Campus Challenge in April 2023.

Clifton Strengths Institute at Nebraska selects 46 new coaches
The Clifton Strengths Institute at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has selected 46 students to serve as new strengths coaches for the 2024-25 academic year. The students will join more than 100 returning coaches to mentor about 1,000 new students enrolled in the College of Business' Professional Enhancement I: Investing in Strengths (BSAD 111).

Twenty-one students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications won awards for outstanding creative work during the American Advertising Federation's annual Creative Nebraska Awards on Feb. 23. The students earned a gold award, seven silvers and two special judge's citations.

A record 108 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students recently showed their entrepreneurial, communication and presentation skills at the 15th annual 3-2-1 Quick Pitch competition. Hosted by the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship, the event gives Husker students from any college a platform to deliver a three-minute business idea to volunteer judges for the chance to win cash prizes totaling $12,000.
