Omaha's Morgan Herchenbach named to UNL's 'Franco's List' for character, integrity

2014 Dec 16

Morgan Herchenbach of Omaha was one of 31 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students who were recognized as outstanding agents of character and integrity this fall when they were named to "Franco's List."

Herchenbach is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Students who attain the highest level of academic achievement are recognized through the Dean's List. Similarly, Franco's List (named after Juan Franco, UNL's vice chancellor for student affairs) recognizes students in the university community identified as demonstrating the positive characteristics that are part of being a person of integrity.

Selection to Franco's List is awarded for each student's commitment to living a life of integrity in accordance with the "Show Your Red" movement and its six building blocks: citizenship, dependability, commitment, respect, open-mindedness and care.

Each semester, a selection committee receives a number of nominations for the award. The focus of the nominations is to recognize students for the actions that frequently go unnoticed on campus and in the broader community.

All of the recipients were nominated by a UNL community member and were ultimately selected by a council of their peers, the vice chancellor for student affairs' Character Council.

Recipients are honored with a certificate, a T-shirt and their photograph on the newly constructed Faces of Integrity Wall outside of the Center for Civic Engagement in the Nebraska Union.
