Alyssa Stokes of Omaha selected to Nebraska Law Review

2015 Jul 16

Alyssa Marie Stokes of Omaha has accepted an invitation to join the Nebraska Law Review.

Stokes is a second-year student in the College of Law, working toward a juris doctorate degree.

Students are selected to the Nebraska Law Review based on outstanding academic performance and being ranked in the top 10 percent of their class. The Review is a student-edited journal that publishes articles by professors, judges, student members and others in the legal profession in quarterly issues. The journal has a national subscription base of law libraries, judges and lawyers and is directed by an executive board of editors elected by the student members. The student editors bear primary responsibility for publication of the Review and receive training in writing, editing and researching.

Law students are chosen for the Moot Court Board based on outstanding academic performance and being in the top 20 percent of their class. Board members assist in the administration of the First Year Moot Court Program, which is part of the course in Foundational Legal Skills, and supervise upperclassmen oral advocacy competitions in the fall and spring. Candidate board members write problems suitable for use in the First Year Moot Court Program and the fall upperclassmen competition. Members also serve as judges for some of the oral arguments. Senior board members supervise the work of the candidate members and assist in the administration of moot court activities at the College of Law.
