Alma Wellensiek of Syracuse receives award from Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine

Alma Wellensiek of Syracuse received the Willis and Dolores Armbrust Veterinary Medicine Scholarship ($1,000) during the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine Honors and Awards Banquet April 18 at Havelock Social Hall in Lincoln.

Wellensiek is a second-year student in the program, working toward a doctor of veterinary medicine degree.

The Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine was established in 2006 by a cooperative agreement between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. The first two years of the program are at the UNL School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
